Cinco de Mayo de Yoga

Darlings,

In Lady Yoga fashion, it is my goal to look back in history to see where we have come from, find the yoga in the moments past to keep us rooted in the present and passionate about where we are going in the future.

Cinco de Mayo, the Spanish words for "fifth of May" is a holiday observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride and commemorates the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War.

From Mexico to Cape Canaveral, Florida, Navy Commander Alan Bartlett Shepard Jr. is launched into space aboard the Freedom 7 space capsule, becoming the first American astronaut to travel into space on May 5th 1961.

In addition, this week, many people have been celebrating, feeling a bit more liberation, freedom and peace of mind as we are currently living history (re the death of OBL).

Let’s dedicate this practice then to the idea of celebrating– the freedom to feel inside and out, a chance to reach for our highest potential and maybe just maybe break through a few physical or mental barriers of our own…so we can enjoy some tequila after!
